Location
3 kms to the local village of St Saud, where there is a baker, butchers, two very good restaurants, chemist, bar/café and garage. Just past St Saud village there is a lake surrounded by woodland, part of which you can swim with small beach, playground and plenty of picnic areas. A simple bar/restaurant up above the lake.
4 kms to the village of Abjat where there is an excellent baker and butchers. It also has two good bar/restaurants.
Piegut is 7 kms with some local amenities and has a very good market on a Wednesday morning.
The town of Perigueux is 80 kms away, which is a beautiful old town where you can stroll through some old quaint streets, with good cafés/restaurants.
Brantome, 50 kms away is a lovely old town for wandering round and great for a days canoeing up and down the river.
Nontron which is 14 kms drive has very good supermarkets, bars and shops and is situated on a very scenic gorge.
There are excellent markets at many of the towns with fresh produce, cheese, fish, meat etc.
Limoges Airport is approximately 1 hours drive away where Ryan Air and Flybe flights arrive into.
Sarlat is also easily visited on a day trip and is arguably the most famous and most visited town in the Dordogne. The old town, dating from both medieval and renaissance times is a pleasure to visit, especially during the spring and autumn, or early in the morning.
